A travel day for us as we were on the road by 7:15 AM heading for Kentucky via I-64 and our ultimate destination, Nolin Lake State Park, which is very close to Mammoth Cave National Park.
After stopping briefly for bagels, coffee, and a few groceries we headed due east, right through downtown St, Louis, past Busch Stadium and across the Mississipppi River. Considering the time, I thought we would encounter a lot of rush hour traffic. Traveling through Boston at this time would never be this easy on a weekday.
The drive across Illinois and Indiana was non eventful as we passed the pancake flat farmlands of the Mid-West grain belt. Once we crossed into Kentucky we saw rolling hills and fenced in horse farms, just as you would expect for the Blue Grass State.
Our fist site for the day was the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, where Kelly Conway claimed there was a massacre as she tried to justify why Trump was banning all Muslim immigration when he first became President. As you know, there was no massacre, so after searching and searching for a memorial to the event, we moved on to the Corvette Museum.
Special parking spaces for Corvette owners! Why not?
For anyone who likes this iconic American sportscar, this museum would be a treat. I certainly enjoyed it, but I’m still partial to MG’s and Triumphss.
Leaving the museum after 5 pm, we picked up a pizza at the Mellow Mushroom, and then drove on to our campsite, arriving there at 7 PM. Yes, that’s another day where the 330 rule was really ignored since we drove 379 miles!

I'll have one 63 split window coupe to go, please...
ReplyDeleteMake that a double.
